The mission of the Bergen County Dental Society, as a provider of continuing education is to assist dentists and allied dental health practitioners meet the federal and state educational training requirements by providing comprehensive training programs, in both lecture and participation format, that is of the highest quality and consistent within the standards set forth by the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association and the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry.

Types of Dentistry


                        • General dentists can provide a full range of services for the entire family.
  • Endodontists specialize in diseases of the tooth pulp, performing such services as root canals.
  • Oral surgeons remove impacted teeth and repair fractures of the jaw and other damage to the bone structure around the mouth.
  • Orthodontists correct misaligned teeth and jaws, usually by applying braces.
  • Pediatric dentists generally limit their practices to children and teenagers.
  • Periodontists treat diseases of the gums.
  • Prosthodontists generally specialize in replacing missing natural teeth with bridges and dentures.

Our long-range goals are to:

Improve patient and health care worker safety by providing accurate detailed information on infection control and exposure control.

Inform health care professionals of changes in the regulations, which help them to be in compliance with state and federal laws.

Inform health care professionals of the latest recommendations of professional organizations like the AGD, ADA, OSAP and governmental agencies like CDC and OSHA.

The Bergen County Dental Society has been a component of the New Jersey Dental Society and American Dental Society since 1916.
